New team takes the Bluff Australasia reins

For immediate release: Monday, September 18, 2006

To say there have been plenty of happenings in the Bluff Australasia office over the past two months would be a great understatements.

We are delighted to announce, that a new management team has taken over publishing of the magazine. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Showcase Publications, and particularly publisher Alan Hyman, for building the foundations upon which we hope to build a bigger and ever-improving magazine. However, the bulk of the team that has worked tirelessly to produce the first two editions of the magazine remains in tact: Stephen Doig (general manager), Sean Callander (editor-in-chief) and Nick Varnavelias (advertising manager).

Bluff Australasia will continue to be available in all Australian and New Zealand newsagencies. For the month of October, every place-getter at an Australian Poker League event will receive a copy of Bluff AustralasiaNew general manager Stephen Doig said he looked forward to the next stage in the development of the magazine. “Our aim is to ensure every poker player in Australia and New Zealand has ready access to a copy of our magazine,” Doig said. “We are also currently in discussions with all Australasian casino poker rooms to ensure, like the USA, that Bluff Australasia will be available free to all poker players.” Readers will notice some subtle differences in our September/October edition. The magazine has increased in size and we’ve tweaked the design to create a cleaner look.

This edition is dominated by all the news, results and reports from the 2006 World Series of Poker, including an exclusive chat with main event winner Jamie Gold. The Bluff team were in Las Vegas to witness the growing Aussie influence – from Joe Hachem’s tremendous title defence to the Mark Vos’s win in the $2000 NLHE event. Our coverage includes a feature story with dual bracelet winner Jeff Madsen, a rundown of all the winners and an irreverent look at the WSOP in our Postcard from Vegas. Edition two also features a full rundown on the Victorian Poker Championships, the latest from our columnists including Joe Hachem’s WSOP experience, and exclusive news on the latest series of Australia’s only TV poker show Joker Poker.

Bluff Australasia is available in all around Australian and New Zealand newsagents. Edition two will also be available in New Zealand. RRP $6.95. For interviews or more information, contact Sean Callander on (03) 9863 8224, 0408 457 408 or at sean@bluffaustralasia.com.au
